How to deliver a wedding: the selection and extras workflow
Hundreds of photos, an anxious client and a deadline. An orderly workflow turns post-wedding chaos into a professional delivery.
The post-wedding bottleneck
After the wedding comes the part few enjoy: organizing, showing, waiting for the selection, computing extras and delivering. Without a clear workflow, this drags on for weeks. With one, it becomes predictable.
Step 1: protected previews, not the RAWs
Never upload originals or full resolution for selection. Upload lightweight, watermarked, low-resolution previews. The client chooses comfortably and your work stays protected until payment and final delivery.
Step 2: a selection link, not a Drive folder
Share a gallery with a secure link (ideally with a PIN and expiry) instead of an open folder. It's more professional, more secure, and gives you traceability of who saw and chose what.
Step 3: included vs extra, in plain sight
Set how many photos the package includes and the price per extra. While the client selects, let them see live how many are included and how many are additional. Zero surprises, zero spreadsheets.
Step 4: close with a receipt
When the client confirms, freeze the selection with a receipt (date and count). The gallery closes and you have a clear record of what was agreed to prepare the delivery.
Step 5: controlled final delivery
Only here do you deliver the full resolution, with expiry and download limits. Delivery is the end of the workflow, not the start: that way you control access until everything is settled.
Wrap-up
A well-delivered wedding doesn't depend on working more hours, but on a workflow: protected previews → selection with clear extras → close with a receipt → controlled final delivery. The client gets an orderly experience and you get your time back.
